Šios praktikos tikslas - stiprinti studentų bendrąją mokslinių tyrimų patirtį, skatinti juos dalyvauti mokslinių tyrimų tyrimų projektuose turint individualų tyrimų planą. Bus vykdomas individualus specializuotas tiriamasis darbas, kurį sudarys  mokymas  ir eksperimentinė praktika mokslinio tyrimo, gamybos ar  verslo įstaigose. Ši stažuotės bus būdas aplinkoje išbandyti įgūdžius, įgautus studijų kursų metu, profesionalaus darbo. Studentai  turės galimybę rodyti iniciatyvą ir entuziazmas potencialių darbdavių  aplinkoje, tai bus puiki galimybė įvertinti savo karjeros galimybes ir įgyti gilesnių žinių, išbandyti save dirbant tam tikrą vaidmenį įmonėse.

Short course annotation in English

The internship will allow to enhance research experiences for students and to encourage students to participate in research. It will be specialized work on an individual basis, consisting of training and practice in a research, industrial, or business establishment. Internship will be a great way to test the skills student has learnt over the course of studies in a professional working environment. They will be able to show initiative, enthusiasm and a good work ethic to any potential employers in the future. It will be a way to explore student’s career options and gain an insight into working in a particular role or company. The internship experience will take place at an approved site.

Prerequisites for entering the course

Biochemistry 2 and 3, Microbiology and basic immunology, Chemical analysis 2

Course aim

To develop knowledge, experience and skills related to a variety of mainstream biochemical techniques in different areas; to enhance research experiences and to encourage students to participate in research.

Content (topics)

Students will participate in research projects. The intern program will provide an opportunity for students to work closely with a senior scientist in order to improve technical skills. The research will increase their creativity and critical thinking, will develop communication skills (written and oral), and enhances the ability to learn independently and work collaboratively with others in teams. It will be a chance to make an excellent impression on a future employer, meet people at research institutes and industry and make connections with those who can help you get ahead. The intern will have practical experience in handling chemicals, operating laboratory equipment, generating and manipulating data, as well as computer database and word-processing skills. Interns are encouraged to be creative and take initiative, where appropriate, and will be granted significant latitude for discretionary decisions and independence of action within guidelines established by their supervisor. Interns are expected to always operate in a safe and efficient manner.

Practical work (laboratory practice) – 80 h, individual work – 80 h

Structure of cumulative score and value of its constituent parts

Final assessment sums the assessments of the written report (60%) and oral presentation of the report (40%)
