Šios praktikos pagrindinis tikslas yra suteikti studentams galimybę  paskaitų ir laboratorinių darbų metų įgytas žinias taikyti realioje į profesinę praktiką orientuotoje aplinkoje. Studentams bus suteikta galimybė susipažinti su pagrindiniais biocheminės ir biotechnologinės krypties mokslo ir gamybos centrais Lietuvoje. Be to, studentams bus sudaryta galimybė pademonstruoti ir plėtoti savo techninius įgūdžius bendraujant su kolegomis profesinėje aplinkoje, suprasti vadovavimo verslui ir kritinio mąstymo svarbą darbinėje aplinkoje.

Short course annotation in English

The primary goal of the acquaintanceship practice is to give students an opportunity to apply lessons learned in the classroom to a real-world experience set in a professional practice-oriented environment. Access to main biochemical and biotechnological centers of science and engineering in Lithuania will be provided to students. In addition to offering students the opportunity to demonstrate and develop their technical skills, it allows students to develop professional skills such as teamwork, effective communication, social interaction and professional networking, an understanding of business procedures, leadership, and critical thinking.

Prerequisites for entering the course

Inorganic and bioinorganic chemistry, Physical chemistry, Biochemistry 1 and 2, Physics, Chemical Analysis 2.

Course aim

To provide practical training in research laboratories, industry and business enterprises or government offices.

Content and tasks

Team visits to:

Vilnius branch of ThermoFisher Scientific;

UAB Biotechpharma;

UAB Sicor Biotech;

UAB Biocentras;

Institutes of Lithuanian university of health sciences;

Institute of Horticulture Lithuanian Reseach centre for agriculture and Forestry;

UAB Aconitus;

UAB Sanitas.

Tasks during visits:

  1. To become familiar with the organizational structure of the unit or enterprise including the role and function of staff;
  2. To become familiar with philosophy, mission and goals of the unit or enterprise;
  3. To become aware of unit or enterprise standards that assures a safe working environment;
  4. To discuss possibilities of supervised research at the defined unit of institute or enterprise.

Distribution of workload for students (contact and independent work hours)

Practical work 45 h, individual work – 35 h

Structure of cumulative score and value of its constituent parts

Final assessment sums the assessments of written report (50%), and oral presentation of the report (50%)
