Dalyko tikslas - suteikti žinių apie tikimybių teorijos bei matematinės statistikos metodus ir jų praktinį taikymą biochemijos duomenų analizėje. Kurso metu įsisavinami pagrindiniai tikimybinių modelių sudarymo ir statistinių metodų naudojimo principai, gaunamos žinios apie statistinius paketus, pirminę duomenų statistinę analizę, duomenų grafinį pateikimą, statistinių hipotezių tikrinimą ir praktinį taikymą, kintamųjų ryšio vertinimą bei ryšio modeliavimą, taip pat įgyjami praktiniai įgūdžiai duomenų bazės sudarymui, skaitinių charakteristikų skaičiavimui, išvadų pateikimui.

Short course annotation in English

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge of the theory of probability and mathematical statistics and the basic principles of application of probability models and statistical methods in modeling of biochemical data. After completion of this course students will be to competent primary statistical analysis, graphical data presentation, data modeling, verification of statistical hypothesis and estimation of the correlation of variables, gain statistical models in real research.

Course aim

The aim of course is the introduction of key concept of probability theory and mathematical statistics, stochastic models and knowledge in the practical application of the statistical methods biochemical data analysis.

Content (topics)

 1. Theoy of probability
 2. Stochastic process
 3. Mathematical statistic
 4. Descriptive statistics
 5. Statistical model of data, point and interval estimation of parameters
 6. Testing of statistical hyphotheses
 7. Correlation and regression
 8. ANOVA

Practical work (contents):

The creating of database, graphic presentation of data, calculating descriptives statistic, calculating confidence interval, use of t- , F-, and chi-square tests; use of correlation and regression analysis

Distribution of workload for students (contact and independent work hours)

Lectures – 45 hours, laboratory work in computer class – 15 hours, individual work – 60 hours.

Structure of cumulative score and value of its constituent parts

Final assessment sums the assessments of written final examination (50%), written mid-term examination (35%) and assessment of laboratory works (15%).
